National Girls & Women in Sports Day
February 3, 2021, marks the 35th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).
Every year, this celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active so that they can realize their full power and potential. This is a great day to celebrate the achievements and advancements of all women in sports across the world, but also to create more opportunities for sports participation. Representation matters, in sports and in life. Our next generation of athletes are watching.
Women and girls who participate in sports acquire lifelong benefits including higher self-esteem, leadership skills, self-reliance, self-discipline, and friendships. Did you know that more than four out of five executive businesswomen (82%) played sports growing up, and the vast majority say lessons learned on the playing field have contributed to their success in business. This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it's important to still stay mentally and physically healthy during challenging times. So whether virtual or other, find a way to safely celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day in your community!
